TROY — Samantha Harris, co-host of “Dancing with the Stars” and “Entertainment Tonight” and a breast cancer survivor, will be the featured speaker for the 17th Bill and Ruth McGraw Cancer Awareness Symposium.

The event will be Oct. 19, at 5:30 p.m., in the Crystal Room, 845 W. Market St., Troy. Harris’ topic will be “Surviving Cancer: Be Your Own Health Advocate.”

Harris, an entertainment journalist, health and fitness expert and certified personal trainer, was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2014. She shared her journey in a video diary shown on “Entertainment Tonight” and through an E! Network special. From the emotional chaos of her diagnosis, Harris and her husband, Michael, founded Gotta Make Lemonade, an organization intended to help inspire positivity in the face of adversity.

Questions and answers and a door prize drawing will follow the presentation.

The program is free but registration is required. To reserve a seat, call 937-440-7541 before noon Oct. 16. Seating is limited to the first 300 registrants.
