Community foundation awards scholarships

SIDNEY — The Community Foundation of Shelby County has announced the awarding of several scholarships from funds administered by the foundation.

Elizabeth Landis, a recent Anna High School graduate, was chosen to receive the Harry and Mary Bennett Scholarship of $350. Landis studies agriscience dducation at the Ohio State University. She is the daughter of Mark and Amy Landis, of Anna.

The Harry and Mary Bennett Scholarship was established by a bequest from Ruth Bennett Emmons in memory of her parents. This scholarship is awarded annually to a Shelby County high school senior planning to pursue an agriculture-related major.

One Sidney High School graduate and two Lehman Catholic High School graduates have been named recipients of William A. Ross Jr. Family Scholarships. The fund was established in memory of the late Sidney industrialist and historian.

Megan McKnight, a Sidney High School graduate, received $1,000 and will attend Cedarville University to study worship. Her parents are Michael McKnight and Krista McKnight.

Connor Thobe, a Lehman Catholic High School graduate, plans to study economics and law at the Ohio State University. He is the son of Dean and Rebecca Thobe, of Sidney. He was awarded $500.

Alex Wiseman also graduated from Lehman Catholic High School and received $500. He is studies business and economics at the Ohio State University campus in Lima. Don and Lori Wiseman, of Sidney, are his parents.
