SIDNEY — The Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation (SCARF) recenlty hosted the Lip Sync Battle, a capital campaign fundraiser to support the construction of a new animal shelter.

At the American Legion Post 217 in Sidney, local celebrities lip synced for votes at $1 each. Joe Laber and Eileen Hix from the Friday Show on 105.5 TAM FM served as hosts. Disc jockey Tony Brown was the master mixer and Tambra Brown was the show’s Chrissy Teigen.

Seven local stars performed to a sold-out audience. The event raised $20,513.30, which will go towards SCARF’s campaign to build the new Bob Sargeant & Family Shelby County Animal Shelter & Adoption Center. Rhonda Cavender took home the Lip Sync Battle belt by receiving the most votes.

All of the stars will be recognized in the new shelter on one of the Paws of Fame, which will be featured in the welcome center. Cavender will be featured on the Border Collie level. Chad M. Stewart, Karie Bell, Bridget Besserman Davis, Jared Wesbecher, Julie Ehemann and Chris Burmeister will each be featured on the Cocker Spaniel level. Plans are already in the works for next year’s Lip Sync Battle, set for Nov. 11. 2017.
