SIDNEY — Nurse practitioner Helen Gwendolyn Gerhard, of Sidney, will depart Feb. 2 with select volunteers from around the U.S. to the Marshall Islands in Micronesia, as members of a medical team organized by Canvasback Missions Inc. of Benicia, California.

As part of the 21-member gynecology specialty team, Gerhard will provide medical expertise from Feb. 4 to Feb. 17, benefitting residents of Majuro, capitol of the Marshall Islands, where Canvasback Missions has established a wellness center in cooperation with the Ministry of Health.

Canvasback Missions is a nonprofit organization providing critical medical supplies and multiple specialty teams annually to the underserved populations of Micronesia since 1981.
