Poultry Days registration opens for Miss Chick, parades

VERSAILLES — Versailles Poultry Days Inc. is accepting applications for the 2017 Miss Chick Pageant.

The contest will take place June 9 and 10.

In addition to the honor of representing Poultry Days during her reign, the chosen Miss Chick will receive flowers, a plaque, crown and $400; first runner-up will receive flowers, a plaque, and $200; and second runner-up will receive flowers, a plaque, and $150.

This contest is open to all high school organizations, 4-H clubs and businesses in Darke, Miami, Mercer, Montgomery, Shelby, Auglaize, Preble, Jay, Randolph and Wayne counties. A list of potential sponsors and contacts is available from the pageant chairpersons if contestants should require help in securing sponsorship. Contestants must be females, 16 to 19, and graduating seniors.

Early applicants will receive a discounted entry fee of $5 payable by the sponsor or contestant. The early application deadline for entries is May 14. After May 14, contestants will be subject to a $10 entrance fee. Final deadline for entries is May 29. Anyone interested becoming a sponsor or contestant should email misschick.vpd@gmail.com.

Registration is also open for Versailles Poultry Days’ Grand Parade and the Antique Car Parade. The Grand Parade will be at 11 a.m., June 10. The deadline for registering for the Grand Parade is May 20.

The Antique Car Parade begins at 2:30 p.m., June 11, and is preceded by a cruise-in display beginning at 9 a.m. Antique Car Parade entrants arriving early will receive goody bags and chicken dinner tickets.
