FORT LORAMIE — The Fort Loramie American Legion Post 355 Auxiliary won several awards at the summer convention in Van Wert, June 4.

Norma Siegel and Dorothy Quinlin reported to membership during the auxiliary’s June 12 meeting that the club was honored with one best overall, three first-place and two second-place awards and an early membership goal certificate. The best overall and one of the first-place awards was for Children and Youth. Other first-place awards were for Americanism and VA&R. The club came in second in Community Service and Juniors.

In other business during the June 12 meeting:

• Members voted to raffle cash prizes in October. Eileen Barhorst and Hilda Siegel will organize the project.

• It was reported that the club’s membership was at 102.439 percent of the goal. There are 168 paid members.

• It was reported that the Buckeye Girls State alternate delegate, Hattie Meyer, had not registered to attend, so she was ineligible when she could have attended. A girl from the Minster post was sent instead.
