DAYTON — Dayton Opera has announced auditions for the 2017-2018 Dayton Opera Chorus will be Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon and Sept. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Fairmont Presbyterian Church, 3705 Far Hills Ave., Kettering.

Singers auditioning for this professional, paid chorus are asked to prepare two pieces: one in a foreign language and one in English. The selections do not have to be from the opera repertoire. Auditions are open to all voices, and an accompanist will be provided at no charge. Artistic Director Thomas Bankston and Chorus Master Jeffrey Powell will hear all auditions. Auditions must be scheduled in advance. To schedule an audition or receive information, call 937-224-3521, ext. 1091.

“The Dayton Opera Chorus is such an important part of our productions at Dayton Opera,” said Bankston. “Side-by-side on stage with the principal artists we bring in from across the United States, Dayton Opera choristers play a large role in bringing great opera to Dayton.”

Those selected for Dayton Opera Chorus may perform in one or both of Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” March 2 and 4, and Puccini’s “Turandot,” May 18 and 20. All performances will be on the Mead Stage of the Schuster Center in downtown Dayton.
