SPRINGBORO — La Comedia Dinner Theatre, 765 W. Central Ave., Springboro, has opened the musical, “Mamma Mia!”
The Broadway hit featuring music and lyrics by Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus with additional songs by Stig Anderson and book by Catherine Johnson, is known as the ABBA musical.
The show tells the story of a young woman’s quest to discover the identity of her father by bringing three men from her mother’s past back to a Greek island they had last visited 20 years earlier. It includes the songs “Take a Chance on Me,” “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia.”
This production was directed and choreographed by Chris Beiser, with costume design by A.T. Jones, lighting design by Geoffrey D. Fishburn and musical diection by Lloyd Butler.
The cast includes Jennifer Barnaba as Ali, Becky Barrett-Jones as Donna, Patrick Philip Becker as Bill Austin, Erica Lynn Bridge as Sophie, Ben-David Carlson as Sky, Olin Davidson as harry Bright, Chris Kramer as Sam Carmichael, Josiah Miller as Father Alex, Britte Steele as Rosie and Karie-Lee Sutherland as Tanya.
David Thomas, Christen Placa, Jonathan Pendergrass, Desmond Thomas, Allie Jackson, Ilana Klusky, Rebecca MacGougall, Brooke Hardin and Madison Bintz comprise the ensemble.
Performances continue through Oct. 28. Tickets cost $61 to $75 and include a buffet dinner. On the menu are Greek lemon garlic chicken, roast pork loin, beef stew, beer-battered Norwegian cod, Swedish meatballs, glazed ham, roast beef, Brussels sprouts and sweet potato souffle.
