SIDNEY — Several Fairlawn students from the school choral program have auditioned and been accepted to participate in honor choirs featuring accomplished vocalists from around the state.
Four Fairlawn seniors were invited after auditioning and applying with recommendations to join the All-Star High School Choir at Kent State University. They are Meghan Bell, daughter of Ann and Steve Bell, Ariana Clack, daughter of Rachel and Jeff Clack, Mya Elsass, daughter of Angela and Harrold Elsass, and Cassandra McKnight, daughter of Michael McKnight and Amy McKnight.
The Ohio Music Educators Association accepted sophomore Caroline Scott, daughter of Emily and Rod Scott, as an alto and sophomore Zoey Douglas, daughter of Danelle and Brian Douglas, as a soprano alternate in the OMEA All-State High School Choir. This is an accomplishment earned by only 120 other singers from the entire state. These students spent many months preparing their audition pieces.
Fairlawn will also have students in the OMEA All-State Children’s Choir, which features close to 200 students from Ohio in grades 4 and 5. Selected students from Fairlawn include fourth-graders Christopher Strunk, son of Brandi and Chris Strunk, Amelie Phillips, daughter of Sonya and Keith Phillips, and fifth-grader, Addyson McClain, daughter of Heather and Brian McClain.
