SCARF fundraiser brings in $17,000

SIDNEY — The Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation (SCARF) raised some $17,000 during its recent Lip Sync fundraiser.

When all the bills were paid, the organization cleared $16,788.04 to put toward the building of the Bob Sargeant and Family Shelby County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center.

The event featured community leaders who mouthed words to popular songs in exchange for monetary votes. Voting brought in $9,192. The remainder was raised through ticket sales to the performance and miscellaneous donations.

Jennifer Salm, of Riverside, won the Lip Sync Battle Traveling Belt by garnering the most votes: $3,159 worth.

Other performers’ results were as follows: Dan Gutman, $1,316; Jenny Riffell Landers, $1,195; Jason Christman, $788; Nicki New, $650; Jackie Gaier, $588; Darryl Thurber, $505; Stewart Watkins, $590; and Mike McRill, $401.
