Library plans preparedness program

SIDNEY — Amos Memorial Public Library, 230 E. North St., will host a free program, “Home and Financial Preparedness,” Feb. 28, at 6 p.m., in the library community room.

Featured speakers will be Marc Burdiss, of Preparedness Solutions Inc., and Andrew Shaffer, a State Farm Insurance agent.

Disasters disrupt hundreds of thousands of lives every year. Each disaster has lasting effects, both to people and property. Residents should know how to respond to severe weather or any disaster that could occur: power outages, earthquakes, extreme cold, flooding or terrorism. They should also be ready to be self-sufficient for at least three days. In addition, in these stressful circumstances, having access to personal financial, insurance, medical and other records is crucial in starting the process of recovery quickly and efficiently. The presentation will cover how to build a kit, make a plan and take action.
