SIDNEY — POWER, Shelby County United Way’s Women’s Initiative group, will host its annual Have A Heart Dinner, Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m., in the Shoemaker Community Room of Amos Memorial Public Library, 230 E. North St.

“POWER (Passionate.Optimistic.Women.Encouraging.Results.) is 80 members strong, but we are still looking to increase our membership through an event such as this, where guests are invited to see what we are all about,” said Connie Barhorst, chairwoman. “Our theme for this dinner is Music and Laughter Are Good for Your Heart, so we’ve invited Timmy G. and Company to entertain us. We will also speak about our ongoing initiatives and programs.”

A local entertainer, Timmy G. has performed for more than 25 years, is a member of the Nashville Song Writers Association and has written many songs and recorded several albums.

“We connect women from all walks of life with volunteer opportunities throughout our community. As a POWER volunteer, you have the ability to volunteer a little bit or a lot. Our organization is open to supporting programs in the community that support our mission to make a positive impact in the lives of children and families. We take suggestions from our members and the community,” said Vice-Chairwoman Shelly Dooley.

Tickets for the dinner are $10. They are available by emailing [email protected] or calling 492-2101.
