With the situation in Mexico becoming more warlike, the government today announced in Washington that it was sending the battleships Louisiana and New Hampshire to Vera Cruz. Strong anti-foreign demonstrations have been reported from Mexico.

The Shelby County Fair Board at its meeting last evening changed its previous action relative to limiting premium exhibitors to Shelby County. Earlier in the year the board adopted a ruling limiting all exhibits to Shelby County residents. In view of the numerous complaints received, the board at its meeting decided to include in the livestock classes residents in all those counties and adjoining Shelby County.

The Sidney Post of the American Legion today issued the following announcement: “In the absence of the National Guard and the possibility that the Guard may be incorporated into the national military forces and be absent for a considerable period of training, the local Post of the American Legion has perfected plans to cooperate with all official law enforcement agencies in the performance of those duties ordinarily performed by the National Guard.”

The Moose Lodge will hold a Stag Fish Fry, Aug. 27 and Don Donoher, head basketball coach at University of Dayton, will be guest speaker. Donoher who took over for the late Tom Blackburn at the Dayton school last year, will show films and he will bring several of his players with him.

At Area Energy and Electric Inc., Stephen Gossard of Waynesfield is pictured moving a computer into new offices. Area Energy and Electric opened this week in its new location at 2000 Commerce Drive, off State Route 29, north of Russell Road. The business built a new facility of 21,000 square feet with office space, vehicle and tool storage area, fabrication area and warehouse space. The company does heating, ventilation and air conditioning, electrical, and electronic work.

A 1989 Lehman High School graduate will make his first professional acting appearance Thursday at the Goodspeed Opera House in Chester, Conn. Matthew Bogart, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bogart of Piqua, will appear as one of 14 cast members in a new musical, “Blanco,” written by Skip Kennon. The show is loosely based on George Bernard Shaw’s short story, “The Shoeing of Blanco Tosnet.”
