SIDNEY — Scott Barr, Shelby County United Way Executive Director, has announced the 2018 Campaign chair will be Joshua Ross.

“As a former United Way board member and long-time volunteer, Joshua understands and values the impact United Way funding and programming has on our community. I am excited to work with Joshua this fall as we share our message and achieve our campaign goa,” said Barr.

Last year, Ross chaired the Large Manufacturing Division. He currently serves on the board for Samaritan Works and committees for the Sidney Shelby County YMCA, both partner agencies that receive funding from the Shelby County United Way.

Ross is an account executive at Ruese Insurance Agency, where he has been employed for 10 years. He is an active volunteer in the community. Currently, Joshua is a board member of Samaritan Works, Raise the Roof for the Arts, the Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the steering committee for YPConnect, a Sidney/Shelby County Bicentennial committee member and a member of multiple YMCA committees. Ross was a Shelby County United Way board member from 2011 to 2016 serving as board secretary in addition to multiple committees, and as a campaign volunteer. He also served as a youth football coach with the Sidney Pee Wee program.

“Having been involved with the Shelby County United Way for the past 10 years, I have been able to personally see the many ways this organization and its partner agencies are able to help shape our community and touch the lives of our citizens on a daily basis,” said Ross. “Every year during this campaign I am amazed by the generosity of the great people in our community. I am honored to be given the chance to help them have another great year from this position.”

Shelby County United Way is celebrating 61 years of serving the community. The increased 2018 campaign goal is $1,340,000. This year’s campaign will kick off on Sept. 13 at The Palazzo in Botkins.
