SFD’s aerial device used to put out single train car fire

SIDNEY — Sidney firefighters responded to a single train car fire on the CSX rail Wednesday morning.

According to a press release from Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services, at 9:10 a.m on Wednesday, March 28, firefighters were dispatched to the area of North Street and Dayton Avenue on the report of a train car fire.

On arrival, firefighters found a single train car smoldering, and carrying Coke Coal. The car was position over the intersection of North Street and Dayton Avenue.

The department’s aerial device was deployed to put the fire out. The fire was extinguished using around 30,000 gallons of water. Units were on scene for around two hours.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported and no dollar loss was noted.
