Men airlifted following serious accident

VERSAILLES — Two men were airlifted Saturday night after a serious accident at the intersection of U.S Route 127 at state Route 47.

On Saturday, Nov. 14, at approximately 11:54 p.m. Darke County deputies along with Ansonia Rescue, Ansonia Fire, Versailles Rescue and CareFlight were dispatched to the intersection in reference to the accident.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2009 Nissan, driven by Rodney Abney, 24, of Bradford, was traveling east on State Route 47. Abney’s vehicle failed to stop for the stop sign at U.S. Route 127 hitting a south bound 2008 Suzuki driven by Cierra Wolfe, 24, of Greenville.

Abney and his passenger, Cody Shafer, 24, of Bradford, were taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital from the scene. Wolfe was transported to Wayne HealthCare in Greenville. Abney is currently listed in stable condition, Shafer is critical. Wolfe was treated at Wayne HealthCare and later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital.

The accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
