Commissioners recognize YMCA

SIDNEY — The Shelby County Commissioners recently presented a proclamation to Ed Thomas and Elizabeth Grace, of the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA, in recognition of the organization’s Read Across the Globe event Oct. 19.

In other business during recent meetings, the commissioners:

• Authorized Engineer Robert Geuy to prepare and submit an application to participate in the Ohio Public Works Commission State Capital Improvement and/or Local Transportation Improvement Program and to execute contracts as required.

• Approved a second and final payment in the amount of $72,100 to Sturm Construction Inc. for the Dawson Road Bridge replacement project. The total final cost was $272,155.

• Authorized advertising for the Bon Ton Pump Station No. 3 replacement project. Bids were to be opened Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.

• Extended the period in which to purchase 2016 dog licenses with no late fee to Feb. 1.

• Authorized re-bidding the 2015 Shelby County Jail water controls project. Bids will be opened Nov. 19 at 11 a.m.

• Approved additional interior painting at the courthouse at a cost of $7,500 making the total cost $116,146 for the painting.

• Approved final payment in the amount of $10,388.20 to Brumbaugh Construction Inc. for the Rangeline Road bridge replacement. Total cost of the project was $266,450.

• Approved final payment in the amount of $133,968.31 to Barrett Paving Materials Inc. for the 2015 resurfacing program. Total cost of the project was $1,042,649.61.

• Approved payment to Miami & Erie Contractors in the amount of $32,825 for the 2015 Courthouse concrete replacement project.
