Eight sentenced in common pleas court this week

SIDNEY — The following people appeared in Shelby County Common Pleas Court Tuesday to be sentenced:

• James Agner, 30, of Sidney, had been charged with one count of possession of drugs and one count of possessing criminal tools, both felonies of the fifth degree.

According to court records he was accused of being in possession of heroin and capsules used for storing and transporting heroin. He originally plead innocent to the charges. On Sept. 17, he entered a guilty plea on the grounds that another trafficking charge against him be dismissed.

He was sentenced to 11 months on each count to be served concurrently in the Shelby County Jail.

• Danielle Epley, 28, of Sidney, had been charged with three counts of trafficking in drugs, felonies of the fourth degree.

According to court records she was accused of selling heroin in the vicinity of a school. She originally plead innocent to the charges. On Sept. 17, she entered a guilty plea on the grounds that the second two charges be dismissed.

She was sentenced to serve 17 months in the Shelby County Jail.

• Tisha Hecht, 36, of Sidney, had been charged with two counts of possession of drugs, a felony of the fourth degree, and one count of possessing criminal tools, a felony of the fifth degree.

According to court records she was accused of being in possession of heroin, a substance containing cocaine and a pipe, syringe, cotton ball and capsules for the purpose of abusing heroin and cocaine. She originally plead innocent to the charges. On Sept. 21, she entered a guilty plea on the grounds that the third count and a seperate possession charge against her be dismissed.

She is being held at the Shelby County Jail until accepted at the Western Ohio Regional Treatment and Habilitation Center in Lima.

• Trey Majors, 38, had been charged with one count of theft, a felony of the fifth degree.

According to court records he was accused of stealing merchandise from Menards in Sidney in the amount exceeding $1,000, but less than $7,000. He originally plead innocent to the charges. On Sept. 21, he entered a guilty plea on the grounds that the charge be amended to petty theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, and that he pay restitution in full for the amount that was stolen.

He was sentenced to report to The Shelby County Jail on Dec. 1 to serve 45 days. He was also granted work release if he meets all the program requirements.

• Perry Price, 18, of Sidney, had been charged with one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a felony of the fourth degree.

According to court records he was accused of having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old juvenile. He originally plead innocent to the charges. On Sept. 17, he entered a guilty plea on the grounds the charge be amended to attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a felony of the fifth degree.

Being convicted of or pleading guilty to a sexually oriented offense requires one to register as a sexual offender. Price will be registered as a tier one sex offender for a period of 15 years. He was ordered to be released from The Shelby County Jail and it was noted in court documents that his time had been served, although he is still in the jail until he is finished serving his sentence for an inducing panic charge.

• James C. Pryor, 21, of New Bremen, had been charged with one count of forgery, a felony of the fifth degree and one count of passing bad checks, a first-degree misdemeanor.

According to court records he was accused of knowingly forging the signature of James Gurney on a personal check without permission and issuing a check for $120 to Meyer’s Garage, in Fort Loramie, from a closed account knowing it would be dishonored. He originally plead innocent to the charges. On Sept. 17, he entered a guilty plea on the grounds that the forgery charge be amended to attempted forgery, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and the count of passing bad checks be dismissed. He also agreed to pay restitution in the amount of $120.

Pryor was sentenced to 30 days in the Shelby County Jail.

• Roger Puckett, 35, of Sidney, had been charged with one count of importuning, a felony of the fifth degree.

According to court records he was accused of asking a female, through means of a telecommunication device, to engage in sexual activity with him, knowing that she was only 15 years of age. He originally plead innocent to the charge. On Sept. 17, he entered a guilty plea on the grounds of a recommendation for community control.

Being convicted of or pleading guilty to a sexually oriented offense requires one to register as a sexual offender. Puckett will be registered as a tier one sex offender for a period of 15 years.

He was sentenced to 45 days in jail, starting Dec. 1.

• Christopher Wade, 38, of Sidney, had been charged with one count of possession of drugs, a felony of the fourth degree, one count of possessing criminal tools, a felony of the fifth degree, and one count of driving under suspension, a misdemeanor of the first degree.

According to court records he was accused of being in possession of heroin in an amount equal to or greater than 10 unit does, but less than 50 unit doses and being in possession of capsules for the purpose of abusing heroin. He originally plead innocent to the charges. On Sept. 17, he entered a guilty plea on the grounds the driving under suspension charge be dropped and a separate possession charge against him be dismissed.

Wade was sentenced to 17 months on count one and 11 months on count two to be served concurrently.
