Archers to use Beige Building

SIDNEY — A Shelby County 4-H club devoted to archery and shooting will have the use of the Beige Building on the Shelby County Fairgrounds during the winter months, following action at the Oct. 21 regular meeting of the Shelby County Agricultural Society.

The fair board approved a request by the club’s representative, Matt Lowe, to make the building available to the club when it is not scheduled for other use.

The board also:

• Considered a request by Mary Lou Overton to demolish existing stands in the Community Foundation Building and install new ones. The fair board’s executive committee had told Overton that two thirds of the cost of new stands would be have to be provided by the garden club. The board voted not to begin to demolition until the money was raised.

• Approved the payment of $300 in fees and expenses for the fair queen to attend the Ohio Fairs convention in January.

• Heard reports on a plan to spade trees and move them to the fairgrounds, on a request to change the day of the draft horse show during the fair, on a rule change — due in January — concerning family animal entries in the Junior Fair, and on a grandstand assessment.
