Shelby County GOP elects 2 new chairs

SIDNEY — Two new chairmen have been elected by the Shelby County Republican Party during its biennial reorganization meeting Monday, June 4. Every two years the Republican party reorganizes the Central Committee officers and the Executive Committee and its officers.

Shelby County Republican Executive Committee elected Aaron Heilers as the new Shelby County Republican Party chairman. The executive chairman is responsible for directing the affairs of the party in Shelby County, including recruiting workers and candidates, planning and carrying out party policies, directing campaigns and promoting the success of the party. The County Republican Party chairperson acts as the chief executive officer of the party and oversees party operations, election strategy, and fundraising. Elected to vice chair of the Executive Committee was Lance Symonds.

Symonds was also elected to Central Committee Chairman. He will preside at all regular and special meetings of the members. The Central Committee Chair has general supervision and direction of all other officers. Elected as Central Committee vice chair was Joel Knouff.

In addition to these offices, secretary, treasurer and executive committee members were selected.

Sanna Hill-Aiden is the organization’s secretary, while Denny York is the treasurer.
