Fire under investigation

SIDNEY — Sidney FireDepartment firefighters were dispatched to a fire at 1170 Westwood Drive Sunday morning, July 29, at 8:37 a.m. A grill was on fire behind the residence.

On arrival, firefighters found a single-story, three unit apartment complex with heavy fire at the rear of the structure that had extended into the attic space of the middle unit.

Firefighters were able contain the fire to two of the apartments. Heavy fire damage was to the attic space in both apartments. The third apartment had smoke and some water damage.

The occupants were not at home of the time of the fire.

The total loss to the property will be determined in the future.

All off duty firefighters were requested to responded and mutual aid from Anna Fire Department and Lockington Fire Department responded to the scene.

DP&L was called to the scene to secure the power to the building.

The ruling of the fire cause is undetermined at this time and is under investigation by the Sidney Fire Department investigators.
