WAPAKONETA — In December, Riverside Art Gallery and Armstrong Air & Space Museum will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing with “50 years of Space,” a commemorative art show and competition. All artists from across the world are invited to submit their interpretation of “50 Years of Space” artwork.
The first lunar landing remains a testament to perseverance, team work, and a dream. When humans first stepped on the moon, the world watched and celebrated the greatest achievement of engineering, math, science, and technology. Many accomplishments had been achieved to enable that first landing, and many more significant endeavors in those fields have expanded our understanding of the unknown to this day.
Contestants will be divided into four groups according to their age as of Dec. 1, 2018: 5 and under, 6 – 12, 13 – 17, 18 and older.
The top contestants from each category will win a prize package, including a year membership to the Riverside Art Center and the Armstrong Air & Space Museum. The winning artwork will be printed on notecards and postcards that will be sold at the Riverside Art Center and the Armstrong Air & Space Museum to benefit both organizations.
To be considered, all artwork must be original in concept design and execution. Artists must submit their 4-inch by 6-inch works by Dec. 1, 2018, in person or postmarked no later than Dec. 1 to the Riverside Art Center, 50 Years of Space Contest, at P.O. Box 37, 3 W. Auglaize St., Wapakoneta OH 45895. For submission requirements, refer to the contest rules and entry form available at www.riversideartcenter.org or www.armstrongmuseum.org.
