HOUSTON — A Fort Loramie teen was transported by CareFlight to the hospital following a one-vehicle crash on state Route 66 Saturday morning, Sept 1.

According to Shelby County Sheriff John Lenhart’s press release, the preliminary investigation indicates Benjamin A. M. Couchot, 17, of Fort Loramie, was operating a 1997 Honda Civic at the time of the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office received the report of the one-vehicle, one-occupant injury crash in the 5,000 block of state Route 66 at 5:11 a.m. on Sept. 1, the release said.

Couch was traveling northwest on state Route 66 when he went off the left side of the roadway, over corrected and lost control of the vehicle. Couchot’s vehicle then slid back off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree, the release said.

CareFlight was called to the scene and transported Couchot to the hospital. Shelby County Deputies, Fort Loramie Fire Department and Houston Rescue Squad also responded to the scene.
