Cincinnati Man killed in 3-vehicle crash on I-75

PIQUA — A Cincinnati man was killed in a three-vehicle crash Monday night on Interstate 75 north of mile marker 90, just south of Sidney.

Nicholas Bayman, 21, of Cincinnati, died in the multi-vehicle fatal crash, which involved a commercial vehicle, on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018. The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) is investigating the crash.

According to an OSP press release, at approximately 6:29 p.m., a pickup truck, driven by Bayman, was reported to be driving erratically going southbound on I-75 when he sideswiped the left side of a commercial semi-tractor, driven by Bisht Bhupinder, 39, of Ontario. The pickup truck lost control, crossed the center grass median, and hit a black Cadillac Escalade head-on, that was travelling northbound in the left lane.

The driver of the pickup-truck was transported to Wilson Health, then was CareFlighted to Miami Valley Hospital, where he died.

The driver of the semi-tractor was not injured in the crash.

Adarsh Mani, the driver of the Cadillac Escalade, a 44-year-old man from Sidney, was with his 14-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter in the vehicle. They were all wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. They were transported to Wilson Health for non-life threatening injuries, and then released.

Mayes’s Towing Service impounded the pickup truck and Roses Towing Service impounded the Cadillac Escalade. ODOT responded to the scene for traffic control. The Sidney Police Department, Sidney Medic Squad, Sidney Fire Department, OSP Traffic Crash Reconstruction and Motor Carrier Enforcement Personnel also responded to the scene.

I-75 northbound lanes were closed for approximately 52 minutes. ODOT routed traffic onto the I-75 northbound exit ramp to Fair Road.
