Food Truck Rally features tasty treats, music, fun

SIDNEY — The second annual Food Truck Rally at Shelby County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Sept. 29, will feature not only a wide variety of good food but also a Car, Truck, and Bike show and family-friendly activities and music. The activities are centered around the grandstand.

Food truck cuisine is a trend that allows visitors to try a large variety of foods from the slightly exotic to comfort food. The food trucks will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Breezy Yinger, a member of the organizing committee, said 11 food trucks coming and included The Crazy Redhead Canteen of Troy, Hunger Paynes of Dayton, and Susie’s Big Dipper of Piqua.

For example, The Crazy Redhead Canteen of Troy Ohio food truck specializes in gourmet grilled cheese and sandwiches made on fresh grilled Italian bread, but said Yinger, it is its Trailer Tots that people ask for. The dish is a large order of very crispy tots loaded with pulled barbecue pork, cheddar cheese, sour cream and chives.

Hunger Paynes of Dayton features a croquette ball of meat, fish, or vegetables covered with egg and bread crumbs and fried in oil with a complementing sauce accompanying each type of croquette.

Susy’s Big Dipper from Piqua will dish up ice cream and sandwiches, and Grumpy’s will serve up BBQ pork.

The other food trucks to be there are This Little Swine of Mine, Mike’s Family Concessions, Food To Go, Hot Diggity Doggers, Tin Roof Mobile Food, Pull Up and Grill and The Pig Shack.

Yinger said new this year is a vendor and craft show which has over 20 booths of items for sale.

In addition to the culinary delights, Yinger said they will host a Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show. The vehicles will be on display from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with voting between 2 and 4 p.m. Awards will be given at 5 p.m.

For the kids, there will be a Bungee Jump and a variety of small carnival type rides and games.

From 5 to 7 p.m, music will be provided by Karma’s Pawn, a Rock ‘n’ Roll cover band that plays a variety of dance music including classic rock of the 1960’s, 1970’s, and 1980’s pop and pop metal, 1990’s adult alternative, and contemporary rock hits.

The fairgrounds are located at 655 S. Highland Ave. in Sidney OH 45365.
