RUSSIA– The Russia Board of Education met June 17 to wrap things up from the 2014-15 school year and prepare for the 2015-16 school year.
Motions were passed:
• To approve temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2016 at $1,750,000.
• To move around amounts of money to close out the fiscal year evenly.
• To employ Bart Doseck, Eric Sullenberger, and Shannon Langston as OGT tutors at a rate of $18.33 per hour up to a maximum of 10 hours per subject for the 2014-15 school year.
• To employ Jill Hemmelgarn and Traci Mangen-Kirner as summer school teachers at a rate of $20 per hour for the 2014-15 school year.
• To employ Tori Borchers as an Extended School Year Service Provider on an as needed basis for the 2014-15 school year at a rate of $18.33 per hour not to exceed 30 hours.
• To employ Sheila Magoto and Connie Gariety as a summer school instructional aide at a rate of $12.25 per hour for the 2014-15 school year.
• To employ August Cordonnier to a one-year purchased service contract as a driver on an as-needed basis for the 2015-16 school year.
• To approve the following bus drivers for the 2015-16 school year: Dale Alt, Jerry Barhorst, Paul Bremigan, Rodney Counts, Terry Daugherty, Tom Gariety, Carrie Heuing, Gery Heuing, Angie Lachat, Mike Meyer, Dan Millhouse, Larry Platfoot, Steve Rose, Vern Seger, and Ann Snider.
• To accept the resignation of Betsey Johns as 4th grade ELA and Social Studies Teacher pending her hire at Piqua City Schools.
• To set the Vision Therapy Coordinator hourly pay rate at $18.00 per hour for the 2015-16 school year.
• To set the hourly pay rate for Tutors & IAT Team Members at $22.00 per hour for the 2014-15 school year.
• To set the Vision Therapy hourly pay rate at $12.00 per hour for the 2015-16 school year.
• To set the substitute teacher salary rate at $80 per day for the 2015-16 school year.
• To approve a contract with the Sidney-Shelby County Board of Health for nursing services at an hourly rate of $37 for the 2015-16 school year.
• To approve a Program Services Agreement between the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center and Russia Local School for the 2015-16 school year.
• To approve a Service Agreement between the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center and Russia Local School to provide transportation and transportation aide services for the 2015-16 school year.
The board approved a list of certificated staff to coaching/supplemental positions for the 2015-16 school year:
• Janelle Cantwil, junior varsity volleyball
• Doug Borchers, girls golf
• Doug Foster, varsity cross country
• Kyle Moore, assistant cross country
• Amber Cordonnier, junior high cross country, athletic site coordinator
• Becca Meyer, junior high cross country
• Chad Sherrill, volunteer girls golf
• Tim Hatcher, varsity girls basketball
• Brandi Phlipot, high school cheer advisor
• Bonnie York, cafeteria manager
The board accepted the following donations:
• $500 donation from the Gene Guillozet Family for scholarship purposes.
• $375 from the Russia Music Boosters for scholarship purposes.
• $350 donation from Russia Student Council to be used for scholarship purposes.
• $320 from the Russia Board of Education for scholarship purposes.
• $6,100 from the Thomas V. and Corrine R. Francis Family Foundation for athletic facility improvements.
• Anonymous donation of $450 to be used for athletics.
• Anonymous donation of $5,000 to be used for athletic facility improvements.
• Anonymous donation of $5,000 to be used for athletic facility improvements.
