LEWISTOWN — On Sunday, Dec. 27, at 3:53 a.m. deputies of the Logan County Sheriffs Office were dispatched to 6089 County Road 21, Lewistown, in reference to a shooting incident.

Deputies and Indian Lake EMS responded to the scene and found Brandon Doseck, 16, of Jackson Center, with a gunshot wound. Doseck was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies investigating this shooting incident report that Evan J. Hoffman, 20, had been hosting an underage drinking party at his residence (6089 CR 21, Lewistown). During this party there had been an altercation between several of the people, including Doseck. Doseck then left the residence on foot.

Approximately one hour later Doseck returned to the party with a family member and several other people. Another altercation took place at the front door of the residence. While this was happening Doseck forced entry into the residence from a side door and an altercation between Hoffman and Doseck took place. Hoffman then shot Doseck. Hoffman then went to the front door and confronted the group of people that had gathered there. Hoffman discharged his weapon into the front porch causing minor injury to two people. Both subjects declined medical treatment.

Hoffman was placed under arrest, transported to the Logan County Jail and charged with the following:

• Seven counts of furnishing alcohol to underage persons

• Seven counts of permitting underage persons to consume alcohol

• Six counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor

Hoffman will appear in Bellefontaine Municipal Court and the Logan County Family Court on these charges.

Deputies will forward their case investigation to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for review and determination of additional charges.
