Quincy woman struck in roadway dies from injuries

QUINCY — A Quincy woman who was struck by a vehicle while getting her mail on Oct. 12 has succumbed to her injuries.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Marilyn D. Smith, 74, was struck in the roadway on state Route 47, near DeGraff, by an SUV.

The SUV was driven by Marvin E. Lehman, 61, of DeGraff.

Lehman was traveling westbound in the 10500 block of west state Route 47 around 2:50 p.m. when he struck the woman, who may have been attempting to cross the street to return to her residence.

Smith was then transported via CareFlight to Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

Lehman reported no injuries.

According to the traffic crash report, on Oct. 21, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office that Smith had died early that day, at approximately 7:24 a.m., as a result of injuries sustained from the crash.
