Fire, EMS responds to 364 calls

SIDNEY — In September, personnel of the Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services responded to 286 EMS calls and 78 fire calls for a total of 364 calls compared to 352 calls last September.

In-house training this month consisted of TRT trench, fire dynamic, Ohio trauma triage, online fire inspector, CAD, ladder, UL fire topics, SCBA awareness, building construction, accident analysis, and HazMat training.

Two fire investigations were conducted this month within the city at 514 – 516 Oak Ave. and 450 W. Russell Road.

The fire prevention division performed 54 inspections this month — including 38 annual inspections, five re-inspections and handled one complaint. Three smoke detectors were handed out from the department. Over the course of two days at the Workforce Development Academy, FPO interacted with a total of 135 students as well as during a Career Day activity, the division spoke with 156 students regarding the EMS/paramedic career field.
