SCARF to collect cans

SIDNEY — The Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation (SCARF) will accept donations of aluminum cans during a Cans for Canine event at the Shelby County Animal Shelter, 1100 Clem Road, Jan.9, from 9 to 11 a.m.

The organization’s mascot, Scarfie, will be there to greet childen and information will be available about pet adoptions.

Money received for the cans will support veterinary care at the shelter.

SCARF continues its campaign to raise $2.4 million to build a new animal shelter in Sidney. Campaign officials said that while several sponsorship opportunites are still open, all those related to cats have been sponsored. Among building areas still available for sponsorship are the proposed welcome center, reception area, community outreach center, laundry room, animal kitchen, food storage room, dog kennel areas, dog kennels and courtyard.
