Auxiliary opens airfare raffle

FORT LORAMIE — Members of the Fort Loramie American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 355 opened ticket sales for a raffle during their December meeting.

Top prize is round trip airfare to either Cancun or Punta Cana. Second prize is $200 cash. Third prize is $100 cash. Tickets cost $10 each. Sales will be limited to 200 tickets.In other business, the auxiliary:

• Heard a report by Eileen Barhorst about ditty bags.

• Heard reports by Hilda Siegel about Wanda Barhorst’s making 90 necklaces for distribution to lady veterans and that poppy sales brought in a record $700.40.

• Heard a report by Norma Siegel that the auxiliary has 139 members and three junior members. The membership goal is 167.

• Voted to provide chicken salad sandwiches as well as ham salad sandwiches during blood banks. The added menu item was discussed and approved during the auxiliary’s December meeting. Jane Poeppelman, who coordinates the blood banks, spoke to the group about lunch options. It was also decided to serve yogurt, to be donated by Dannon, or to alternate the yogurt with Jello salad and ice cream.

• Announced the following winners in the veterans dinner raffle: Don Gushing and John Guillozet, $100 each; Roger Bertke, Marilyn Poeppelman, Carolyn Drees and Bernard Sanders, $50 each; Jackie Riethman, Tom Kirs, Tammy Shoup and Jerry Gephart, $25 each.
