Grand jury indicts rape, theft, and drug cases

SIDNEY – A man with an unknown address is being sought by local authorities after being indicted for rape. Several theft and drug-related cases were included in the 30 people being indicted by the Shelby County grand jury on Thursday, Dec. 20.

Arraignment for those charged will be Thursday, Dec. 27, in Shelby County Common Pleas Court, according to online court records.

Todd Freeman, 38, at large, has been indicted for rape, a first-degree felony. He allegedly had sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13. The offenses reportedly occurred between Aug. 28 to Sept. 3.

Donte L. Jelks, 27, 320 S. Miami Ave., was charged with three counts of trafficking in drugs, all fifth-degree felonies, and one count of trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony.

On Dec. 17, Sidney and Piqua Police officers executed a narcotics search warrant at Jelks’ home. A large amount of marijuana, cash and a cellphone were seized from the home.

Adrian L. Gregory, 32, 1224 Garfield Ave., was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. He remains incarcerated at the Shelby County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

Records indicate that on Dec. 10, Gregory entered a Chevy Trailblazer parked at Sidney Foodtown, 1010 Wapakoneta Ave., that had the engine running. He was arrested a short time later along southbound Interstate 75 south of Fair Road.

Darrell E. Clark, 36, 5923 Hardin-Wapakoneta Road, was charged with failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony. He did not appear in court on Dec. 4 for sentencing on a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

Clark was arrested on Feb. 2 with Fentanyl and Methamphetamine. On Aug. 9, following his plea agreement conviction, he was released on his own recognizance.

A Sidney couple was indicted on drug charges with both being arrested on Dec. 11 allegedly in possession of Methamphetamine.

Mya Browning, 19, 108 Canal St., were charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony, and possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony. She was in possession over the bulk amount.

Michael Corner, 43, 108 Canal St., was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, and possession of criminal tools, both fifth-degree felonies.

Another couple listed as at large were also indicted on drug charges. They were both charged with trafficking the drugs Methamphetamine, Fentanyl and Tramadol June 19-20.

Louise Lynn Loraine Morris, 37, at large, was charged with three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, all fourth-degree felonies. Stewart D. Hoover, 43, at large, was charged with aggravated trafficking in drug, all fourth-degree felonies, and, trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

Robert D. Williams, 39, 716 Park St., was indicted on two counts of trafficking in drug, both fourth-degree felonies, and, six counts of trafficking in drugs, all fifth-degree felonies. He is accused of selling cocaine in March and April.

The fourth-degree felonies were designated as authorities allege Williams sold the drugs near a school.

Manny R. Perez, 19, 637 Marilyn Drive, was charged with two counts of trafficking in drugs, both third-degree felonies, and, three counts of trafficking in drugs, all fourth-degree felonies. He is accused of selling marijuana and hashish near a school facility.

James M. McGunter, 26, Taft, California, was indicted with grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, and, operating a motor vehicle (OVI) while under the influence of alcohol and OVI with a specific concentration of blood alcohol level of .025, both first-degree misdemeanors.

He supposedly stole a 2011 Ford Focus while intoxicated.

Jerry Melvin, 50, West Chester, Ohio, was charged with passing a bad check, a fifth-degree felony. He is accused of writing a $1,300 check knowing the money was not in the account.

Drug indictments filed

The indictments include another 18 people facing drug-related charges. They are:

• Carlos Wilson, 42, at large, two counts of trafficking in drugs, both fifth-degree felonies.

• Kendrick D. Watkins, 43, at large, trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

• Barbara Jean Hopson, 38, Lima, aggravated passion of drugs and possession of criminal tools, both fifth-degree felonies.

• Nathan L. Jelks, 27, Canal Winchester, Ohio, trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony.

• JaJuan E. Jones, 32, 803 Broadway Ave., four counts of trafficking in drugs, all fifth-degree felonies.

• Jesse M. Fitzgerald, 35, Piqua, possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

• Amy M. Hammons, 34, incarcerated, two counts of trafficking in drugs, and, one count of trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony.

• Candace K. Roberts, 46, 815 Mount Vernon Place Apt. B, trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and, trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony.

• Toby Gilbert, 46, 215 N. Pomeroy Ave., trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

• Franklin L. Lee, 62, 624 Park St., three counts of trafficking in drugs, all fifth-degree felonies, and, trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony.

• Crystal N. Fields, 30, 710 Taft St., four counts of trafficking in drugs, all fifth-degree felonies, and, trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony.

• Lori A. Allen, 51, 221 E. Water St. Apt. B, three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, all fourth-degree felonies.

• Ashley A. Thomas, 32, 610 E. Pike St., Jackson Center, aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony, two counts of trafficking in drugs, both fifth-degree felonies, and, trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony.

• Crystal G. Cook, 30, at large, trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and, two counts of aggravated tracking in drugs, both fourth-degree felonies.

• William S. Watercutter, 61, 10221 Fair Road, illegal cultivation of marijuana, a third-degree felony.

• Rayshawn M. Johnson, 36, 500 N. Vandemark Road Apt. 19, four counts of trafficking in drugs, all fifth-degree felonies.

• Rusty Lynn Shannon, 56, Piqua, three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, all fourth-degree felonies.

• Chad E. Ellis, 42, 19701 Meranda Road, Maplewood, illegal assembly, or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a third-degree felony.
