Warming Center to open

SIDNEY — The Warming Center of Shelby County will open at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, and Sunday, Jan. 24, facility officials said.

The Warming Center is located at Sidney First United Methodist Church. Anyone needing a place to stay to should use the north entrance off the parking lot. (Amos Library is located across the street)

The center is open from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with guests accepted from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Facility officials said they are in desperate need of overnight volunteers. Several churches in the community have given the center many donations of blankets, toiletries and money, but no volunteers. “The church people of Sidney First United Methodist have graciously stepped up to help, but the list is limited and we have had lots of cold nights,” facility officials said. Anyone from throughout Shelby County is welcome to volunteer.
