SIDNEY — The Amos Memorial Public Library, 230 E. North St., will host the second annual Harry Potter Book Night, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m.

The free event is for people in the third grade and older. It will be celebrated around the world as well as in Sidney.

On Harry Potter Book Night: A Night of Spells, young wizards, witches and Muggles will be treated to an evening of games, trivia and other treats. It all begins when the Sorting Hat decides who will be in which House, competing for house points throughout the evening’s challenges. These will include creating magical potions, a wizard duel, and the Ultimate Spellathon trivia challenge.

Staff will dress in robes for the occasion and serve snacks inspired by some of the wizard foods in the books, said Rikki Unterbrink, Youth Services director.

“We are so excited to be joining up with schools, libraries, bookshops and community centers throughout the UK, United States, and the world to celebrate the second annual Harry Potter Book Night. Librarians have always been fans of the Harry Potter books because they really light up a child’s imagination and get them hooked on reading,” Unterbrink said.
