SIDNEY — Shelby County Auditor Amy L Berning is reminding all dog owners of the upcoming deadline to renew your dog license for 2016.
Due to Jan. 31 falling on a Sunday, the last day to purchase renewal tags this year is Monday, Feb. 1. A dog license may be purchased several ways: The Auditor’s Office, 129 E Court St, Sidney, Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or Friday from 8:30 a.m. until noon; the Animal Shelter, 1100 Clem Road, Sidney, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Online at www.shelbycountyauditors.com; or at various satellite agencies throughout the county. You can visit the website for a complete list of satellite locations.
Per Ohio law, if a dog license is not purchased by the statutory deadline (Feb. 1), a penalty is applied which causes the price of the license to double.
Be a responsible pet owner by not only purchasing a tag, but also making sure your dog wears it at all times. It is your friend’s ticket home if he or she gets lost!
