SIDNEY — The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Shelby County will kickoff the 2016 relay, tonight, Feb. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Connection Point Church, 1510 Campbell Road.

The free event is open to the public to present information about how to help the American Cancer Society save more lives from cancer.

The program will highlight how the community has benefited from funds raised and will honor cancer survivors and caregivers. Speakers will include Event Lead Robert Schroerlucke. Guests will have the opportunity to register a team for Relay For Life, which will be Aug. 5-6 the Shelby County Fairgrounds.

The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to fight cancer, with 4 million participants in 6,000 events worldwide in 2015. Last year, 350 people participated in the Relay For Life of Selby County and raised $130,000.

“This is our community’s opportunity to help save lives from cancer by taking our message to more people and raising more dollars to fund the fight,” said Deb Kaufman, team ambassador. “Together, our efforts can make a big difference.”
