NICEVILLE, Fla. — Police in Niceville, Florida, are investigating the death of a Sidney toddler who died Thursday while visiting the Niceville area with his family.

Greyson Carr was just a few days shy of his first birthday when he was found unresponsive at a home on Georgia Avenue, in Niceville, after what Niceville Police Chief David Popwell called a “tragic accident.”

Greyson, son of Kristen Jenkins and Sean Carr, both of Sidney, was on vacation with his mother and stepfather, Devan Cruea, at the time of his death.

“This has me completely torn apart,” Jenkins said. “I just want my baby back.”

According to the Niceville Police Department, a call was received Thursday morning regarding a child who was not breathing. First responders administered CPR, but it was unsuccessful.

Popwell said an autopsy was scheduled for Friday morning, but details have yet to be released regarding an official cause of death.

The Niceville Police Department is expected to release more information as it becomes available.

A GoFundMe account has been started in honor of Greyson in an attempt to lessen the financial burden of burial and memorial services on the family.
