Community grants application open until Aug. 7

SIDNEY — Organizations in or serving Shelby County may be eligible to apply for a Community Grant from the Community Foundation of Shelby County. The deadline for preliminary proposal submission is Aug. 7.

Community Grant awards may go to any 501(c)(3) organization or governmental entity in or serving Shelby County. Spring grant awards supported teen and adult mental health counseling and activities, equipment for the Workforce Partnership, assistance for homeless individuals, the Shelby-Sidney bicentennial committee’s mobile museum and many other efforts.

Before applying, organizations should review grant guidelines on the Foundation’s website at commfoun.com. The first step is to contact executive director Marian Spicer at [email protected] or call 937-497-7800 to discuss the type of program or project and amount for which the organization would like to apply. A total of $35,000 is available.

The online preliminary proposal asks for basic information. Additional information will be requested in the coming weeks for those organizations whose request is advanced in the process.

The Community Foundation offers two Community Grants cycles each year. The next deadline to apply will be Jan. 30.
