SIDNEY — A driver and passenger injured in an accident Friday night remained in critical condition Tuesday at a Dayton hospital.

A spokeswoman for Miami Valley Hospital said Neal Duffman III and Claire Frantz were in critical condition.

According to a Sidney Police report, Duffman, 23, of Kenton, was driving a pickup truck eastbound on West Court Street, east of Wilkinson Avenue, at 10:45 p.m. when he attempted to change lanes and lost control of the vehicle. The truck hit the curb and went off the right side of the roadway. The driver’s side of the vehicle struck a bridge abutment and the truck came to rest facing westbound. A car driven by Jeffrey Borchers, 30, 1221 Hamilton Court, was eastbound on Court Street at the time of the crash. Debris from the pickup truck hit his car.

Police found Duffman and his passenger, Frantz, 27, 1405 Constitution Ave., unresponsive in the vehicle. The Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services took Duffman and Frantz to Wilson Memorial Hospital. They later were transferred to Miami Valley Hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
