Web traffic grows for Visitors Bureau

SIDNEY — More than 2,400 web session were recorded during the month of May for the Sidney Visitors Bureau’s website.

According to Director Jeff Raible, there were 2,435 web sessions, compared to 1,916 in 2014. He presented his report during the June board meeting.

There were 2,222 unique users, up from the 1,709 unique users in 2014, he said. There were 4,523 page views, more than 800 more than the 3,715 page views in recorded in May 2014.

There were 534 Facebook views compared to 442 views in 2014. The time on site averaged 1:22 minutes, up slightly from the 1:15 average time on site in 2014.

Sidney Visitors Bureau information was sent to 1,414 individuals interested in learning more about this area after visiting the web site or seeing ads in the Discover Ohio Travel Planner, Midwest Living Magazine, Country Living Magazine and the Madden Media Regional Newspaper Insert. A total of 1,335 reader response requests were fulfilled for the same period in 2014.

In collaboration with the Days Inn – Sidney Conference Center, the Sidney Visitors Bureau made a presentation to the Ohio Rural Letter Carriers Association to host their 2017 annual conference in Sidney. The conference would bring approximately 150 visitors to this area for a 3-day state wide conference. In total, four Ohio Visitors Bureaus and their local hotels were competing for this conference. In the end, the Sidney Visitors Bureau finished runner-up to the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio, for the conference.

The group submitted a press release to OhioTraveler.com for publication in its July 1 eNewsletter, which is circulated to 150,000 subscribers. In addition, this press release will be sent to 950 regional radio, television, newspaper, magazine, and eMagazine media outlets. The focus of the press release is on activities of interest in the Sidney area during the months of July, August and early September.

The bureau has concluded the first of a four month search engine marketing campaign with Madden Media to attract a higher volume of traffic to the Sidney Visitors Bureau web site. This “key word search” plan began on May 1 and generated 1,015 visitors to the SVB site. Overall during the month of May, the program presented a page one impression of the Sidney Visitors Bureau accompanied by a link to the SVB site to 46,832 people conducting key word travel searches on both Google and Bing. This Ad Words campaign will continue with both Google and Bing through the month of August.
