SIDNEY — Majors Thomas and Kathleen Applin started their Salvation Army ministry at the Sidney Corps (church) in 1982.

On Sunday, Sept. 29, they will be returning to Sidney for a special Sunday service. Church will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a community fellowship potluck following the service. The Salvation Army invites anyone who knew the Applins or would like to meet them to join them on Sept. 29.

Majors Thomas and Kathleen Applin are currently serving as the divisional secretaries for Greater Cleveland Area Services. The Applins met at The Salvation Army Saddle Lake Camp (summer resident camp) as staff members and were married in 1979. They have two adult children, Evangeline (Jeremy) Applin Miller and Lt. Bramwell (Jana), and are blessed with five grandchildren.

“Majors Applin have such wonderful spirits. Everyone they encounter have found memories of them” said Captain Samantha Lockard, assistant corps officer at The Salvation Army of Sidney. “I had the privilege of working with them in Western New York and cannot wait for them to visit Sidney.”
