Ohio State Beauty Academy to host the 2019 fall student competition: “A Night in Oz”

LIMA — The Ohio State Beauty Academy has announced a student competition taking place Thursday, Oct. 17, with the theme “A Night in Oz.” The Avant-Garde showcase will feature hairstyles inspired by the strange but beautiful story of “The Wizard of Oz.” The hairstyles will be paired with creative makeup applications, nail art, and costume designs. The showcase will take place at the UNOH Event Center. Doors will open at 6 p.m with the show starting at 6:30 p.m.

There are 45 students participating in “A Night in Oz” event. Models in the show will walk the runway showing off their hairstyles, makeup applications, nail art, and costume designs inspired by a specific character found in the movie “Wizard of Oz” chosen by random draw in September. For the past month, students have been preparing their looks and will be making final touches the day of the show.

Students will be judged on creativity and execution by a panel of judges. Each student will be judged on the following criteria: creativity and uniqueness, degree of difficulty and technical skill, and presentation/neatness. students will be competing in six categories: hair design, makeup application, nail art, costume design, peer evaluation and viewer’s choice. There will be a first through third place winner in each category. Winners will receive a certificate, medal and bragging rights at OSBA. Each participant and model will receive a participation gift.

The show is free and open to the public.
