LIMA – The Ohio State University at Lima office that brings together students and employers has a new name and a new location.

The Office of Career Development and Engagement is now located in the Student Services Center, Room 196.

The new name reflects how both students and employers now approach the world of work.

“Students are thinking earlier about how they will develop their careers throughout their working life,” said Rachel Richardson, career services manager. “We are talking about building the big picture of their lives during their first-year classes and even earlier when we are out in the high schools.”

Employers expect students and recent graduates to have relevant experience when they graduate. That means students need to take advantage of internships, part-time jobs, co-ops and other opportunities to build their skills.

“Students who engage with their faculty members in the classroom and engage out of the classroom with community service opportunities, internships and club activities develop the skills and abilities that employers are looking for,” Richardson said.

The Office of Career Development and Engagement is located in the Student Services Center, Room 196, and can be reached at 567-242-7333. Rachel Richardson also can be reached at [email protected].
