Uncontested races plentiful in Shelby County

SIDNEY — Voters going to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 5, won’t see a lot of choices for council, township trustee, fiscal officer or school board seats. Many of the candidates are unopposed or there aren’t enough people running to fill the upcoming vacancies.

In the city of Sidney, three council seats are available. None of them are opposed on the election ballot. Seeking re-election is Mike Barhorst, 604 N. West Ave., Sidney, At-large. Seeking election are Jennifer L. VanMatre, 1641 Wildwood Court, Sidney, At-large; and Steven Klingler, 1260 Erie Court, Sidney, At-large. Incumbent Janet Born didn’t seek re-election. VanMatre was appointed to council in June by City Council after At-large Councilman Joe Ratermann resigned in May.

In the village of Anna, the mayor’s seat is up for re-election. Incumbent Mark Pulfer, 305 Onyx Drive, Anna, is uncontested.

Anna also has two council seats up for election with only one candidate on the ballot. The only candidate on the ballot is incumbent Laura Lentz- Fogt, 503 E. North St., Anna. No other valid petitions were filed. Incumbent Kathie Eshleman didn’t seek re-election.

The mayor of the village of Botkins’s seat is up for re-election. Incumbent Steven L. Woodruff, 420 E. State St., Botkins, is uncontested.

Botkins has two council seats up for election with two candidates on the ballot. The unopposed candidates are James P. Buehler, 201 Warren, Botkins; and Lucas Greve, 415 E South St., Botkins. Incumbents Casey Dietz and Marcus Counts didn’t seek re-election.

In the village of Fort Loramie, the mayor’s seat is up for re-election. Incumbent Randal J. Ahlers, 120B Liberty Way, Fort Loramie, is uncontested.

Fort Loramie also has two council seats up for election with only one candidate on the ballot. The only candidate on the ballot is incumbent Matthew Hoying, 77 Eastview Drive, Fort Loramie. No other valid petitions were filed. Incumbent Tim Boerger didn’t seek re-election.

In Jackson Center, the mayor’s seat is up for re-election. Incumbent Scott Klopfenstein, 301 Oak St., Jackson Center, is uncontested.

In the village Kettlersville, the mayor’s seat is up for re-election. Incumbent Eric S. Kaminsky, 8915 State Route 274, Kettlersville, is uncontested.

Kettlersville’s two Village Council seats are up for election, but no valid petitions were filed.

In the village Lockington, the mayor’s seat is up for re-election. Incumbent Tracy M. Johnson, is uncontested.

In the village Port Jefferson, the mayor’s seat is up for re-election. Incumbent Stephen R. Butterfield, 8877 Johnston Slagle Road, Sidney, is uncontested.

In both Port Jefferson and Russia, two seats are available on council, but no valid petitions were filed.

Two people filed petitions for the two Lockington Council seats and they are Paula E. Johnson, 470 Tow Path Trail, Piqua; and Nancy Ritter, 400 Tow Path Trail, Piqua.

The Cynthian Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Jennifer L. Frilling, 7647 Cardo Road, Sidney.

The Dinsmore Township trustee seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Ted T. Zimpfer, 14567 Lochard, Road, Sidney.

The Dinsmore Township fiscal officer seat is available, but no valid petitions were filed.

The Franklin Township trustee seat is available, but no valid petitions were filed.

The Franklin Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Debora Lynn Bodenmiller, 9111 County Road 25A, Sidney.

The Green Township trustee seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Keith V. Gump, 2867 Tawawa Maplewood Road, Sidney.

The Green Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Mack A. Knupp, 17707 McCloskey School Road, Sidney.

The Jackson Township Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Diane Frank, 21471 Wise Road Jackson Center.

The Loramie Township trustee seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Dale M. Goubeaux, 1077 Fessler Buxton Road, Russia.

The Loramie Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Bonnie Paulus, 4376 Rangeline Road, Russia.

The McLean Township trustee seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Craig A Bergman, 4317 State Route 362, Fort Loramie.

The McLean Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Lori Bornhorst, 10036 Friemering Road, Fort Loramie.

The Orange Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Eric Voress, 1801 Bulle Road, Sidney.

The Perry Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Sally Keener, 6153 Jackson Road, Sidney.

The Salem Township trustee seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Daniel A. Knoop, 10700 Pasco Montra Road, Sidney.

The Salem Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Catherine D. Platfoot, 21111 Lefevre Road, Maplewood.

The Turtle Creek Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Karen Pleiman, 8347 State Route 705 Sidney.

The Van Buren Township trustee seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Alan D. Luthman, 16002 McCartyville Road, Anna.

The Van Buren Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The candidate is Joan Buehler, 8903 North St., Kettlersville.

The Washington Township trustee seat is available and uncontested. The candidate Douglas K. Stangel, 9501 Stangel Road, Sidney.

The Washington Township fiscal officer seat is available and uncontested. The write-in candidate is Glenda J. Stangel

Unopposed board of education races include Anna, Botkins, Hardin Houston, Jackson Center, and Russia.

Michelle Brunson, 15150 Hardin-Wapak Road, Anna; and Adam Reiss, 9650 State Route 119, Anna, are the candidates seeking the two available seats on the Anna Local School District School Board.

Two seats are available on the Botkins Local School District School Board. Mark R. Goubeaux, 416 E. State St., Botkins; and write-in candidate Chris Monnin, are the only two on the ballot.

Brian Helman, 10277 W Mason Road, Sidney; and Jason Shaffer, 8695 Fessler Buxton Road, Piqua, are the only candidates seeking the two available seats on the Hardin Houston Schools School Board.

There are three seats available on the Jackson Center Schools School Board. Kristin S. Davis, 308 N. Fork St., Jackson Center; Matt Kohler, 306 N. Fork, Jackson Center; and Brad Wren, 108 Waterford Court, Jackson Center, are the three candidates seeking to fill the three available seats on the Jackson Center Board of Education.

Two seats are available on the Russia Local Schools Board of Education. Douglas Hoying, 3223 Simon Road, Russia; and Jeffery J. Prenger, 111 Oakwood St., Russia, are the candidates who will appear on the ballot.

New Breman, New Knoxville, Riverside are the overlapping School Boards that have unopposed races.

Cory Suchland and Scott Bertke are the two candidates on the ballot seeking to fill the two overlapping/New Bremen School Board seats.

There are two overlapping/New Knoxville School Board seats available. Michelle Neuman and Brian Hoge are the two candidates on the ballot seeking to fill the two overlapping/New Knoxville School Board seats.

There are two overlapping/Riverside School Board seats available. Bradley K. Adams and write-in candidate Blaine Dixon are the two candidates seeking election.

There are two overlapping/Versailles School Board seats available. The two people seeking election are Hope Batty and Jacob Broering.

There are three overlapping/Auglaize Educational Service Center seats available. The only candidate on the ballot is David Andrew Shephard. No other valid petitions were filed.

There are three overlapping/Graham School Board seats available. Six people are seeking election, and they are: Toni Kite, Leslie Maurice, Alan Mitchell, Ryan Pine, Brittany L. Todd and David Uhl.

There is one overlapping/School/Madison-Champaign Service Center seat available. The two people vying for the seat are Jeffrey A. Burroughs and Karen Allen Fowler.

The Midwest Educational Service Center District 3 seat is being sought by Eric Ditmer.

No valid petition was filed for the one Midwest Educational Service Center District 1 seat available.
