Choir students perform in all-state choir

COLUMBUS — Shelby County was represented by five outstanding vocalists at this year’s Ohio Music Educator Association’s All-State High School Choir.

Jenna Allen, Delaney Wilson, Shannon O’Donnell and Savanah Koester were selected from Sidney High School choir and chosen from Fairlawn High School choir were Devon North and Zoey Douglas as an alternate. These students were five of only 160 Ohio high schoolers selected for this honor. The group rehearsed biweekly in various locations around the state to prepare for their final performance at the Ohio Music Educator Association State Professional Development Conference in downtown Columbus.

Directed by world renowned composer Dr. Andre Thomas the ensemble performed advanced level repertoire for an audience full of family and music educators from all over the state. Director of Sidney’s students is John Young and director of Fairlawn’s students is Sonya Phillips.
