SIDNEY — The Sidney Civic Band will present a concert, “Dancing in the Moonlight,” Friday at 7 p.m. on the courtsquare.

The band will feature performances by local dancing groups, as well as encourage audience participation. The Dorothy Love Steppers will perform during “Liechtensteiner Polka” and “Rock Around the Clock.” Waltzers will spin their partners to “Belle of the Ball.”

During “YMCA,” “The Hokey Pokey,” “The Electric Boogie” and the “Chicken Dance,” fans will be encouraged to dance to these popular numbers. Other dancing groups may make surprise appearances.

“The band enjoys playing even more when folks dance,” said Director Phil Chilcote. “We have something for everyone: ‘Opus One,’ ‘The Latin Hustle,’ ‘Boss Nova,’ ‘Jamaican Rumba,’ ‘Beguine Again’ and ‘Boot Scootin’ Boogie’ for all of our line dancing country fans.”

Refreshments will be available for purchase from Connection Point Church of God Relay for Life team, beginning 30 minutes prior to the concert.

In the event of rain, the band will perform in the Christian Academy on Russell Road. A Spot pie and Bob Evan’s baked treats will be given away to lucky fans.
