Fort Loramie Education Foundation awards scholarships

FORT LORAMIE — The Fort Loramie Education Foundation is a broad based, non-profit community organization whose purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Its charge is to operate for the benefit of students, former students, and all persons seeking education whose parents have been or who presently are taxpayers in or residents of Fort Loramie School District.

The 2020 Fort Loramie Education Foundation Scholarships were awarded to numerous recipients.

• American Legion Post 355 Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Blake Holthaus, son of Ted and Beth Holthaus. He will be attending The Ohio State University.

• August “Jr.” Gaier Memorial Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Evan Hoelscher, son of Ted Hoelscher and Jill Hoelscher. He will be attending The Ohio State University.

• Ben-Med Memorial Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Kennedi Gephart, daughter of Jeff and Kelly Gephart. She will be attending Bowling Green State University.

• David B. and Julie E. Shuffleton Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Jenna Fischkelta, daughter of Bridget Brown and Joseph Fischkelta. She will be attending the University of Toledo.

• Elmer H. Schafer Memorial Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Nora Beresik, daughter of Marie Beresik. She will be attending Wright State University.

• Faulkner, Garmhausen, Keister, & Shenk Leadership Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Andrea Rodeheffer, daughter of Scott and Brenda Rodeheffer. She will be attending Trine University.

• Fort Loramie Community Service Club Scholarship No. 1, $1,000, was awarded to Justin Puthoff, son of Jeff and Becky Puthoff. He will be attending The Ohio State University.

• Fort Loramie Community Service Club Scholarship No. 2, $1,000, was awarded to Mark Seger, son of Ken and Janice Seger. He will be attending Wright State University – Lake Campus.

• Homer & Mary Lou Bornhorst Family Scholarship, $1,500, was awarded to Blake Holthaus, son of Ted and Beth Holthaus. He will be attending The Ohio State University.

• Hugo and Thelma Meyer Memorial Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Olivia McGee, daughter of John and Shannon McGee. She will be attending the University of Dayton.

• James F. and Marcia L. Schulze Scholarship #1, $1,000, was awarded to Jake Ratermann, son of Karl and Robin Ratermann. He attends The Ohio State University.

• James F. and Marcia L. Schulze Scholarship #2, $1,000, was awarded to Logan Siegel, son of Treva Siegel and the late Ted Siegel. He attends Wright State University.

• John & Victoria Albers Memorial Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Melissa Kunkler, daughter of Charles and Carol Kunkler. She will be attending Bowling Green State University.

Joseph & Mary Borchers Memorial Scholarship, $500, was awarded to Lili Rodriguez, daughter ofMichelle Rodriguez. She will be attending the University of Toledo.

Leo J. Meyer Memorial Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Joel Keiser, son of Matt Keiser and Holly Keiser. He will be attending the University of Toledo.

• Madeline Maurer Memorial Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Ethan Pleiman, son of are Kevin and Shelly Pleiman. He is attending Bowling Green State University.

• Mike and Mary Jo Barhorst Family Scholarship, $1,000.00; Kaden Mescher, son of Todd and Renee Mescher. He will be attending Franciscan University of Steubenville.

• Minster Bank Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Hayden Egbert, son of Ryan and Kari Egbert. He will be attending Wright State University.

• Paul and Veronica Perin Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Taylor Ratermann, daughter of Matt and Jane Raterman. She will be attending the University of Dayton.

• Post 355 Legionnaire, Auxiliary and Sons’ Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Evan Hoelscher, son of Ted Hoelscher and Jill Hoelscher. He will be attending The Ohio State University.

• Ralph W. Eilerman Family Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Zach Pleiman, son of Mark and Jill Pleiman. He will be attending Wright State University – Lake Campus.

• Ratermann Insurance Agency Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Hannah Siegel, daughter of Tony and Jill Siegel. She will be attending The Ohio State University.

• Red & Black Memorial Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to Marissa Meiring, daughter of Kevin and Betsy Meiring. She will be attending Wright State University.

• Richard and Shirley Simon Memorial Scholarship, $1,000, was awarded to James Keller, son of Ben and Cara Keller. He will be attending Wright State University – Lake Campus.

• Urban and Pauline Ratermann Family Memorial Scholarship No. 1, $1,000, was awarded to Alyssa Wrasman, daughter of Kevin and Amy Wrasman. She will be attending The Ohio State University.

• Urban and Pauline Ratermann Family Memorial Scholarship No. 2, $1,000, was awarded to Katelyn Ernst, daughter of David and Jenny Ernst. She will be attending Edison State Community College.

The current officers and directors of the Fort Loramie Education Foundation are, Angie Gaier, president; Craig Dues, vice president; Jessica Gaier, treasurer; April Brandewie, secretary; Dan Holland, superintendent; Neil Borchers, director; Julia Moore, director; Jenni Wilt, director; Lynn DeLoye, director/school board representative; and Mike Siegel, director/school board representative. FLEF has developed a Mentor Program. The intent of the program is to benefit the students by providing an avenue to establish contact with Fort Loramie Alumni for the purpose of the exploration of a certain profession and career planning. Consider joining the Alumni page provided on the school’s website at http://www.loramie.k12.oh.us/Alumni.aspx., in order to help build the contact base for the upper-classmen.
