MINSTER — A Minster man died Saturday night after falling off a golf cart and hitting his head at the Lotus Grove Campground in Minster, according to Fort Loramie Police.

James Fredric Beck II, 62, was pronounced dead at the Minster High School Saturday, Aug. 29, where he had been transported by Minster Life Squad to meet up with CareFlight, Fort Loramie Police Chief Nathan Brown said.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a report a male hit his head at the Lotus Grove Campground on state Route 363 on at 8:36 p.m. on Saturday.

They are still learning the details of the incident, Brown said, but the fall was not the result of a crash.

“The cause of death is still undetermined if it was a result of a medical condition, or if he just fell,” Brown said.

Beck was not driving the golf cart or in the driver position, and Brown said it is still unclear whether the cart was in motion or stationary when he fell off.

Although the fall occurred in Shelby County, because Beck was taken to Minster for a clear spot for CareFlight to land, acting Auglaize County Coroner Jason A. Stienecker was called to the high school, Brown said.

Also assisting at the scene was Fort Loramie Rescue and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

The Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster is handling Beck’s funeral arrangements.

The incident is still under investigation by the Fort Loramie Police Department.
