Commissioners approve annexation to Russia

SIDNEY – The Shelby County commissioners approved the annexation of 14.899 acres to the village of Russia among its recent actions.

On Jan. 7, the commissioners approved the annexation as petitioned by O’Francis Properties, LLC, and Daniel and Bonnie Paulus.

In other action, the commissioners held their annual re-organizational meeting on Jan. 7 and elected Anthony Bornhorst as president for 2021. Julie Ehemann was elected vice president for 2021.

The commissioners established open meeting hours for 2021 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until the completion of business.

The commissioners authorized advertising for bids for the 2021 roadside mowing program on Jan. 14. Bids will be opened at 11 a.m. Feb. 11.

The commissioners approved payment of weekly expenditures totaling $37,161.70 on Dec. 31, $24,950.32 on Jan. 7, $677,307.98 on Jan. 14, $4,473,857.58 on Jan. 21 and $868,790.24 on Jan. 28.

A resolution fixing sewer district rates to be effective March 1 was adopted on Jan. 14. The county’s 2021 appropriations were adopted Jan. 7.

The commissioners transferred sales tax revenue of $156,823.32 from the General Fund to the Engineer’s Fund and transferred sales tax revenue of $156,823.33 from the General Fund to the Capital Improvement Fund on Jan. 21.
