Fort Loramie sees growth in 2020

FORT LORAMIE — In 2020 the village of Fort Loramie benefited from a significant investment in private building projects.

“A total of 23 building permits were issued totaling $2,865,383 in value. There were two homes and a three-unit condo that began construction in 2020. The biggest investment in new construction was TMK Enterprises adding a 10,000-square foot addition to their existing facility at 200 Enterprise Drive in the industrial park,” said Tony Schmitmeyer, village administrator.

His report continues:

Two businesses became part of the Fort Loramie Community in 2020. The Fort Loramie Brewing Company open a microbrewery at 17 N. Main in our downtown area. Logan A/C & Heat Service out of Dayton Ohio opened an office in downtown Fort Loramie.

In 2020 Fort Loramie Hardware relocated their hardware store from downtown to 101 S. Main St. in Fort Loramie. The move provided them with more store space and additional parking. With the additional space they were able to increase their product and service offerings.

Redskin Memorial Park had additional development in 2020. A new 44=foot by 30-foot shelter house was built at the edge of the wooded area of the park. The Park was the beneficiary of two Eagle Scout projects in 2020. Devin Wray installed a new park sign with an Indian Chief at the park entrance and Mack Fortman relocated the wood fiber safety surface from the Elementary School to the playground at RMP. Construction has begun on a 40-foot by 60-foot’ pavilion which will be completed in early summer. Additional improvements include planting 20 trees between the ball diamonds, installing four scoreboards and eight dugouts, a donor recognition sign, a GaGa Ball Pit by the playground and additional pathway lighting between the ball diamonds and around the playgrounds.

The Greenback Rd Reconstruction Project was awarded to Tom’s Construction of St Henry, Ohio with total construction cost of $1,360,598. Financing for the project consist of a $475,000 Ohio Public Works Grant, $314,146.84 OPWC zero interest loan and $571,451.16 village funds. The project will include the reconstruction of Greenback Rd from Main St to Monterey Dr. This will consist of replacing the roadway, installing new curbs, sidewalks, water mains, and storm mains. The project will also include resurfacing Greenback Rd from Monterey Dr to SR 705. Construction of the project began in January of 2021.
